Types of Science Jobs

Science is not a one-size-fits-all scenario. There are many different types of science disciplines, from life to physical to social science specialties. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts employment in these three science areas will grow by seven percent through 2028. If you are interested in studying why things are and how they could be, a science specialty might be for you.

Agricultural and Food Scientists

These people look for methods to improve the efficiency of agriculture as a whole and make food production and storage safer. They also work to develop ways to sustain farm animals and study soil composition. These scientists must be prepared to travel, though they work in offices and laboratories as well.

Biochemists and Biophysicists

These specialists study biological processes, including disease, cell development, and hereditary traits. They work to analyze, isolate, and synthesize DNA and other molecules, one of their tools being a custom microarray. These scientists conduct both basic research to solve an existing problem and applied research, which may provide solutions to future conditions or situations.

Forensic Science Technicians

These people assist in criminal investigations by gathering and studying evidence from crime scenes. At the scene, they take photographs, collect possible clues, and possibly recreate the scene. In the laboratory, they analyze material they have collected and consult with specialists in various fields such as toxicology and odontology to help with methods and identification. There is much more to this work than an hour-long television show suggests.

Geographers

These specialists study the Earth, its features, and the way its inhabitants are distributed. They gather data in various ways ranging from maps and photographs to field observations, satellite images, and census reports. Human geographers study cultures and population densities, while physical geographers study planetary features and natural resources.

If you are curious and analytical, chances are there is a scientific field that fits with your interests. Multiple scientific disciplines help us find answers in various fields. These answers then help society as a whole develop and grow in all areas.… Read More..
